Churchill Downs Incorporated Names John Marshall Vice President of Racing for Calder Race Course

Churchill Downs Incorporated (NASDAQ: CHDN) (“CDI” or “Company”) today announced that John T. Marshall has been named vice president and general manager of racing for Calder Race Course (“Calder”) in Miami.  He will report to Calder President and General Manager Tom O’Donnell and begins his new role effective Jan. 19, 2009.

Marshall joins CDI from The Meadows Racetrack in Pennsylvania, where he previously served as vice president and general manager.  Prior responsibilities at The Meadows include tenures as assistant general manager and as human resources manager for both the track and its four associated off-track betting facilities.

“It’s truly an honor for me to join the team at Calder Race Course and CDI,” said Marshall.  “This is a dynamic time for Calder, and I’m eager to work with the talented staff there to take advantage of the many opportunities we have to hone and improve our racing product.  I’m looking forward to this great opportunity.”

“I’m happy to welcome John to the Calder Race Course family,” said O’Donnell, who also serves as senior vice president of CDI.  “His extensive background in racing and experience make him an ideal candidate for this position.”

Marshall holds an MBA from Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Penn., and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
